Congratulations on three things: 1.sewing a top in way record time! 2. Getting a wearable (very cute!)project even with a boo-boo 3. and this is the best--I have not yet attained this level of perfection: getting DD approval. Lisa you rock! I thought about buying this fabric but snoozed and loozed.

Lisa, I have this pattern and am anxious to make it. I have a coral boucle in my stash but I, too, have never worked with this type of fabric so your review helped me solve some of my problems and also warned me about what to watch for when working with this type of fabric with this pattern. Thanks for a great review. The top looks great. I certainly can't tell that there's any problem with it!

Lisa, that is so soft and yummy looking! I'd never guess there was a boo-boo, either. ;-) I had cut this same top out yesterday, and plan to sew it up this morning, using a brown velour from Fabric.com. I was worried about the use of clear elastic, so am thrilled to hear about your successful use of lycra binding. I have that on hand and think I'll use it. Thanks for the great review!

Lisa, I removed this from the wish list cause I thought it would look goofy on me. I have to reconsider that because yours looks GREAT! I didn't notice your booboo.

The top looks wonderful...and that is NOT a mistake. It's a design decision. You could even emphasize it with a few loops and buttons. I suspect your review is going to lead to another run on this pattern. Wouldn't you hate to work at KS, trying to analyze pattern sales?

Just for the record, I did pull out my traced sleeve and lay it over the pattern and trace off that notch! Karla, I read on the 'would it be possible' thread that Deepika is tracing this pattern this weekend; I predict there will *definitely* be a run on that pattern once she posts her review! I'm thinking about posting the tip about using lycra in the tips/techniques section, but I don't know what to call it. 'Substitute for clear elastic' is all I can think of -- think that will work? Thanks for all your encouragement, ladies! I'll quote it to those littel nagging thoughts that say 'you screwed this up' when I put the top on ;)

Love your top Lisa! And that fabric is TDF!!! My pattern is all traced out :) Can't wait to sew it up.

Yippeee, Lisa, the only place I have to run for this pattern is my pattern drawer, and yours is the kick in the pants I need to get it out and make it! What a pretty top. Love the color and the lofty fabric. I guess I don't qualify for "maven" status (hardy har har) because I didn't notice any boo boo - just a lovely woman in a pretty top.

Your sweater is very pretty. I can't seem to get clear elastic to work for me either so off I go to buy the lycra binding in all the colors. Thanks for the review and a great elastic substitute idea.

We will be twins, Lisa! Now that I've seen yours, I can't wait to for my fabric to arrive to make this for myself. I've used this pattern before (stretch velvet), but I don't remember stablizing the neckline...do you think it's necessary for this fabric? Would it stretch out of shape easily? Good job, I love it!

Carrie, this fabric is soft enough that I didn't trust it to recover well. It may be that the elastic is to secure the neckline when the top is worn off-the-shoulders (which I won't do), but given the fact that I wasn't sure about the recovery of the fabric...and I don't have a walking foot or differential feed on my machines, so I was a little worried about the presser feet stretching things out of shape...I thought 'better safe than sorry' and stabilized it. For a knit with a fair quantity of lycra and good recovery, I bet you really wouldn't need it, at least if you didn't wear it off the shoulders!

Love your top! It looks great on you and no one but you will ever know it has a "mistake" - after you wear it a few times even you will forget. This is really a nice pattern, thanks for your review.

Gosh, thanks for the tip on the lycra binding. I hate clear elastic and am thrilled to here of a good substitute. Yes, post it immediately to the Tips section under "Substitute for Clear Elastic". I love your top--I think I'll be getting this pattern.

Lisa, love the fabric and top as they make a great combo. I made this top last weekend using stretch burnout velvet. This pattern goes together quickly and is wonderful! I ended up sewing in the clear elastic by hand since my fabric was curling a bit and I was using a walking foot. I'm anxious to try it next in sweater knit.
