well done! pinning your outergarments to make them stay is a very period technique =) I have also had problems with Simplicity sizing on historical costumes, they tend to run too small. If you want to try sewing the top to the bottom again, you might try hammering the fabric flat first, and sew over really hard parts by turning the wheel with your hand instead. Lovely dress, I hope you had lots of fun in it!

Wow, I cut the fabric for this last year, and I am finally starting to sew it. You are inspiring me to finish ASAP. Great job! I am so glad to see someone else doing it, too, it does look a bit involved.

I made this pattern and will post the results soon. I widened the shoulder straps because I can not STAND hiking them up all day at Faire. Instead of sewing the skirt to the bodice, try using heavy weight hooks and eyes. It helps support the weight of the skirt while giving the bodice a smoother look.
