ETA: I have made my second version of this dress. I wore the first version a few times ( I didn't like the dotty fabric much) and discovered that what everyone said in previous reviews is correct - you need to lengthen the bodice. The first version fit, but I felt the need to tug at it and pull the waistline down all the time. So this version I lengthened the bodice by 1" and shortened the skirt by 2" (as I wanted it slightly shorter than the prevouis version - I am 5'3"). This one is made in a nice ('noice') jersey called 'Cavalli' purchased from Gardams Fabrics in Brisbane Australia.
Purple version

Pattern Description:
Wrap front dress has soft pleats, side tie and sleeve variations.
Pattern Sizing:
8-10-12-14. I made a size 14 based on my bust size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes - except I realised when I was comparing the photo to the pattern drawing that I have put the cuffs on backwards! dOh! I didn't compare the pattern markings when I attached them.. silly mistake. However it will be staying that way as they have been overlocked (serged) on.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Instructions were fine. However I don't know why you need to ease stitch a stretch fabric. Even clipping seams didn't seem neccesary.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pattern is drafted well and comes together beautifully.
I love the fit. The front neckline hugs the body and there is plenty of coverage in the wrap. I like the detail of the collar and cuffs in View B (even if I did put the cuffs on backwards!)
I don't think there is anything to dislike about this pattern.
Fabric Used:
Polyester jersey bought from Spotlight (Australian chain store). It was called 'Manhattan' on the tag and its full price was $10/m. However it was clearance time and I picked it up for $2 /m, so this is a bargain dress!
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
Only by mistake (cuffs are backards) - otherwise it was all as per the pattern.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would highly recommend this pattern. You don't need me to tell you that, as it has been on the Best Patterns of PR for the last two years!
I am considering making another version of this dress but in a fabric that I like more than this clearance table special poly!
Conclusion:
What else can you say - this pattern is a classic for good reason!

lilyofthevalley 5/12/09Love this dress on you, Sue, backward cuffs and all. It's hard to believe that the fabric is a clearance table special; it's so very pretty and so flattering to your own coloring. Really cute shoes, too. Yes, make more of this dress. Lovely, Lily

Nancy Anne 9/12/09Very nice! I checked out your blog, and while both dresses are lovely, I like the purple on best. The coloring is very flattering on you, as is the shorter length.

CarolynGM 9/12/09Both are lovely, but, yes, the purple one is better. Love the color too.

brissie71 9/12/09It looks gorgeous, Sue. I quite liked the dotty one, too, though. I don't know how you find those $2 bargains - must be the Spottie that I go to. I'm also working on adding 'fitness' to my list of hobbies too - it must make the 'sewing' hobby more enjoyable.

Kayseri 9/12/09This 2nd version looks great and I love the fabric.
* * *
Schnauzer 9/12/09This version is lovely too!
