I love the color of this dress. And I also dislike pointy darts. I have found that when the darts are vertically placed in the bodice, curving them helps with the pointy factor. I do this by using a french curve from the dart point to the seamline and arcing the dart so that it cups the bust. But, I like your gathers and it is probably easier and less frustrating. Thanks for the tip.

what a great review. I hate pointy darts too - I've never thought to substitute gathers and I like your idea!

GREAT review! This is SO cute, and I DEFINITELY think you should make another RAT NOW. :o) You know, I like the gathers much better on this style, now that YOU'VE thought of it. :o)

Oh Em, this is lovely. I too like that the halter front of this dress is teamed with a higher back making it appropriate for the office and a walk on the beach. This is a very informative review.

I'm getting close on finishing this myself (just have the skirt left). I have the exact same short-bodice, pointy darts, and neck and armhole gaping! ETA - Nevermind, I found how you fixed yours. I might have to de-construct my bodice a bit and take in the side seams at the underarm. But I think I'll wait until I have it further put-together as I just can't tell yet how much (if any) gapping will remain. I can always pick up some clear elastic and stitch that to the underside of the v-neck and back armhole!

Cute, cute dress! Love your style better than the actual one. I had to go to your bio to get to your blog...it's in the studio, not in the summer...in case you read this & want to fix it....;-). Congrats on the weight loss! I love the ice cream, too! But since I've gotten to near 70, I'm still eatin' it...& it's so good!!!
