Thanks Renren. The elastic is just free floating. It stays in place because it is quite snug around my waist, about 3.5" negative ease. This looks ok on these because there isn't much gathered fabric at my waist while wearing, the finished yoke has just enough ease to go over my hips.

Just perfect! I love the addition of the slant pocket. And gosh, here it is again, I think I need to make the same alterations you have made! When you added th 2.5cm wide elastic, did you sew it in place at the side seams, crotch seams, or zigzag it in all around, or is it just free-floating in there? I guess what I am wondering is since the width of the elastic is less than the width of the wide waistband, what keeps the elastic in place? I know two methods, but your pants are flawless, and I would like to know what you chose to do. Thanks!

So cozy looking! I seemed to have passed this pattern by without a closer look. I could use a few lounging pants.
