Annette1 said... SUPER cute blouse. I love the color, and it looks GREAT on you. I suspect Jennifer Aniston will have nothing on you in the black sleeveless one either. As for the back, it looks like you might benefit from a swayback alteration. I found this thread that talks about it and has some diagrams showing how you might alter your back pattern piece:

Raye Ann said... this is fabulous! i think the sleeves are cute gathered- not too wide at all. the fit across the bust and the button placement are perrrfect. if i made blouses that fit this nices, i, too, would never buy another one. as it is- i have about 5 or 6 of this general style in my closest(maybe about 12 if you count the l/s ones:) and none fit this well. 8/4/09 7:37 PM
JMarie1962 said... Wow! This is so cute on you! I have passed this pattern over so many times but now... I'm going to put it on my "must have" list. I have the same problem with the upper back. For me, it comes from having flat shoulder blades. Great job and review! 8/5/09 1:50 AM

re the back - looks like sway back to me, also wrinkling may be eased by letting out the side seams - you might be slightly broader in the back than the front. Shoulders you can definitely do that way, I do the same thing myself! Only if it is a fitted sleeve cap you will need to raise the base of the armhole the same amount otherwise you will be making your sleeve whole wider and it will be harder to ease in the sleeve - but since you gather yours anyway this won't be a problem
cute and funny review, cute and gorgeous blouse. 8/5/09 2:21 AM
Keiler said... The shirt looks terrific, but I agree with your thoughts about repositioning the shoulder seams. That's probably contributing to the illusion of width more than the shoulder gathers.
I can't stand the term sway back, and you don't have one anyway, but there is a problem with the fit going on there. Sway back is a medical term describing a misaligned spine. Your curves just happen over a shorter length than the pattern - the darts need to be shortened at their centers. Then you may have to re-add what you removed to the hem to keep it even with the front. What you need is the vixen hourglass alteration - not for sway back. 8/5/09 9:35 AM

Annette1, RLL, Mary Nanna, and Keiler - thank you so much for the pointers! I've been sewing for 15 years and have never even heard about the sway back alteration. I think my back may just be wider than my front, so I'll try a letting out the side seams or sewing a slightly larger back and see if that helps. The sway back threads have totally intimidated me!
jilly cooper, Sallygirl, Raye Ann, JMarie1962 - MAKE THIS TOP! It's fun, easy, and totally classic!!! I know you all will make something beautiful.
Thank you all for everything from the bottomest of my heart. XOXOX 8/7/09 11:53 PM
