I am in the middle of making this costume, and I am so glad to hear that someone else struggled with the pants! That part of the pattern is incredibly confusing and the pictures are basically worthless. I ended up with the same awkward slit - I may add some hidden velcro or something else to disguise it. Thanks for your review!!

I have made this pattern before. I made your version once and the other doublet twice. I admit that the first time I made the pants it took a little while to figure them out, but now they are my favorites. Interestingly enough, each young man I made them for initially put the pants on backwards. If I make them again this year, I will try to take pictures during construction to detail putting the pants together. There are not many men's renaissance patterns out there so I am likely to be doing that. Just have to see who hires me this year.
