In 1987 I used a KS boys' shorts pattern to make "jams" for my then-9-year-old son. Soon there were neighborhood boys lined up at my front door holding pieces of fabric, asking if I could make some for them. KS patterns for kids are great!KS 4/27/02 10:23 AM

I used a cotton hawaiian print poplin for the outer, and some athletic (read uniform) type fabric for the lining. He measured perfect for the size eight so that's what I made. They fit him perfect, exactly how he wanted them. I strongly reccomend this pattern, too. The fit is definately there, it's just a matter of adjusting length to the current style. I also used a shoelace for the tie. Between that, my serged seams, and carefull topstitching the onlything that gives them away as home made is that I matched up the print on the front and side seams. 11/11/04 11:19 AM
