The tunic version looks much better. The dress just looks too big all over.

Should you still be in the child-bearing age, I certainly would hold on to his pattern. I think the pattern should be in the maternity category. This is exactly what I wore 30 years ago while pregnant. Sorry, I know you refer to it as tunic, but from my perspective there are way too many styles which are really coverups for a tummy. You don't look pregnant, nor do you look like you have a protruding tummy, it's the pattern.
