This pattern has already more than 150 reviews. No need really to another one (I for one did not read all the previous reviews). But I decided to write one anyway if just as a reminder to myself about what I should try to correct or pay attention to next time I use this pattern.
So here I go...
Pattern Description:
This pattern includes 3 different styles of top with different sleeves to choose from. I made view E, the knotted front with (due to fabric shortage) the 3/4 bell sleeves of view A and C. Pattern Sizing:
8-16 (I cut out a 12) Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, I even managed to have the same loose front neckline they show in the envelope photo Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, and I almost faithfully followed them all. The only thing I did differently was adding a strip of less stretchy knit to the back neckline to prevent it from growing larger than it already is.
The front would also benefit from a bit of stabilizing. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the knotted front. Fabric Used:
An extremely stretchy and rather thin rayon jersey.
I think that a thicker and/or less stretchy knit would have worked better for this top. The weight of the sleeves pulls on the very wide neckline and makes it almost slip down my shoulders. And this fabric shows any slight lump and bump (mine and my clothing's - looks awful with jeans!) Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
I took out 2.5 cm (1 inch) above the waist.
I then lenghtened the top (3 cm / a little more than 1 inch) because it was terribly short. Next time I will probably lenghten it a little more.
I also shortened the sleeves (2.5 cm / 1 inch) at elbow level to make them 3/4 on my arms.
The back came out too big from shoulders to waist. Next time I will probably cut size 10 for the back transitioning to 12 from the waist down.
The front is quite low. Next time I could try to make it a little bit higher. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think I will sew a sleeveless version for next summer (and I will sew the other top versions in this envelope).
I do recommend it, although a bit of tweaking could maybe be necessary to make it fit perfectly. Conclusion:
A nice and trendy top. Although this pattern was released in 2006 this style is still very current (in Italy at least: they are just making their appearance in shops).

This is such a great pattern. Now that we are having the first cooler nights in TN, I've been thinking of sewing up a few of these. Your purple version is gorgeous.
