Thanks so much for reviewing a less than successful pattern! I have this pattern, and a similar body type. I didn't think about how this dress might exaggerate wider hips. I have several dresses with slim skirts, but all with sleeves, so I think its the sleeveless element that does it. The color def. makes a difference too... at least the jacket looks fabulous, esp with that black dress!

Try the version with the fuller skirt before tossing out this pattern. I've made several of these dresses with the full skirt. Personally, I think this dress look great on you and you might be happier with it in another color.

Thanks for this thorough review. I too have the wide hipline from the front/back views, and yes, occasionally I have to reminded why it is I wear the darker colors on the bottom half! But you have very lovely knees/legs, so you do have that advantage! Andreahg has an interesting idea about the full skirt (in a darker color maybe?) You did a very nice job with the fitting. Oh, and no reason to use 5/8" seam allowances on a curve if you don't want to... :)

your hipline figure is gret. If you want to balance that out w/your narrow shoulders then I suggest a top or dress top with sleeves. nice dress!
