I LOVE your jacket - much better than their versions! The fabric and the tucks are fabulous. Thanks for an informative and hilarious review!

Your jacket looks great and I think the form fitting bodice offsets the dropped shoulder to give you a slim/trim line. Very cool.

Very nice! I love all the texture in that fabric - washing didn't hurt it a bit just added interest.

This is just you Annette. I love the way you take a pattern and you own it. Fantastic review and I agree about the fabric requirements on some of these multiple looks patterns. It's crazy you do more adding than thinking about the design.

The jackets is great because of all of your attention to detail but you're right about the dropped shoulder. Could you add all the great details to a TNT jacket pattern?

I always learn so much from all of your reviews. This jacket is SO nice. All of the details have been so thought out. You always have a great knack for just the right amount (and type) of trim with the most perfect buttons to match your fabric and pattern style. I love the way you were able to mix and match the pattern pieces just the way you wanted to make a jacket that is "so you"! It looks terrific on you!!!

Once again, a lovely, lovely jacket. I love Michael's, don't you? I think I have this same trim which I am planning to use on black wool crepe. It's gorgeous. What did you do to the ends when you cut it, so all the beading didn't fall out?

This is sooooo incredibly cute! I love the trim details - they are perfect with the fabric, crinkly and all! I thought it was supposed to be crinkly when I first clicked on the pics! Great job!

What a wonderful jacket and, yes, having just recently been introduced to the steampunk look at this site, I can see the influence in this jacket as you have sewn it. It will be perfect with the black lace cuffs you have ordered. Believe me, when you walk in a room, EVERYONE'S eyes will be drinking in all the delicious detail this jacket offers: belt, tucks at waist and cuffs, collar, buttons, waist trim, and lace at cuffs. You have a talent for bringing together the right mix of fabric, pattern elements, trim, and detail together to make your projects at once highly individualistic and appealing to lots of us PR'ers.

What an amazing jacket! The "Jacket Queen" produces another wonder!!!!! If I ever thought or even dreamed that I would create something this luxe and beautiful I would be on cloud 9!!!!! And your excellent, detailed review enables me to follow along step-by-step. The only "problem" is that I want each of your creations, purchase each pattern you use, then DON'T make these beauties. Well, perhaps I can be you when I grow up. LOL. I especially like the fabric texture after washing (like Eileen Fisher silks), the many buttons, the perfect waistline fit, the sleeves pleats, and of course the trim, collar, and all the accessories. Your black lace cuffs will be just the final touch!!!! Thanks for such a special review!

Your jacket is beautiful in every way - style, fit, fabric, trim, detail, etc. I especially like the "crinkledy/wrinkledy" surface texture of the fabric.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your very nice comments. MsMaryO, when I was cutting that trim, I just kind of eyeballed it there. If you look at yours UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, there's a spot in there where you can cut, where there's really just stitching, no beading (or so I imagined). That's where I tried to cut, then I just turned the end under real quick and pinned it in place. Then I stitched the trim in place by hand on both the top and bottom edge, running my stitching line just right along where the metallic border ends on the edges. I took longer stitches on the underneath side, then did a little bitty backstitch on the upper side of the trim. There's probably a better way to do it, but with my crinkled fabric, I wanted there to be a little bit of "play" in the trim, so that worked out for me. That will be BEAUTIFUL on wool crepe, and I always thought it'd be pretty on denim, too. Thanks!

Yet another fantastic jacket and thorough, wonderfully documented review. I absolutely LOVE that fabric, and the way you've brought everything together (as you do so well) with the trim and the buttons -- it really works. My jaw dropped when I saw those incredible Venetian Lace Cuffs -- just amazing!! PLEASE post pictures when they arrive and you try them on with the jacket! The coolness factor will skyrocket with those cuffs and the rest of the accessories. Thank you for another inspiring jacket and great review!

I WISH you could see the SILVER Lucchese cowboy boots I've been wanting for MONTHS AND MONTHS, Marec. They would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO perfect for this jacket, but it seems like something always takes precedence over the boots, and the time just ticks away, me with my nose pressed to the screen checking to see if they're STILL THERE. ALAS, I'm BOOTLESS (NOT HARDLY)! Thanks. :o)

Absolutely gorgeous on you, Annette! When you take a pattern 'under your wing," or under your cocker spaniel shoulders (tickled me), you just design/redesign the heck out of it. All your choices are superb. What Vision you have! Truly lovely, Lily

hi i love how you changed the pattern to something so cute, i am in love with the trim!!! i have a question, i want to make this jacket in veiw b (the blue one on the cover of the pattern) and it looks like it overlaps yet has no buttons? are the waist measurments printed on the tissue, and without any changes did you find the jacket snug at all in th e pleat area when buttoned?
10/27/09 5:43 AM
Annette1 said...
Hi, ggexpansive. They are showing one of those views with no buttons, but you can easily add them if you want to, because (as you stated), there is an overlap, so there's plenty of room for buttons. As for the waist measurements being provided on the pattern tissue, NO, they don't. :o( You could measure across the pattern tissue (front and back), then subtract all those pleats. I didn't have any trouble with the waist being too tight, but I also released my pleats below the waist, which the directions didn't call for. Had I not done that, then it COULD have been too tight in the upper hip area. I don't KNOW that, but that would be a "typical" problem for me. Thanks!
