Lovely pattern. This is my 'Valentine's Day top.' I fell in love with the fabric and knew immediately that this pattern would be perfect for it.
(Except that I didn't buy enough fabric and when I went back to the store they were out, so I frantically searched the internet and was lucky enough to be able find the extra 3/4 yard I needed. Lesson learned: buy more than you think you will need. Particularly if you're making anything with sleeves.)
No major problems putting this together, and the fit is about right. The tie band in front sits a bit high, pretty much on top of my bra wire. I'd prefer it about half an inch lower, it would be easier to tie back. Also, the length of the elastic at the top takes a bit of fiddling with, I had to shorten it about an inch.
I didn't have enough elastic for gathering the sleeve, so I used ribbon ties instead (bias binding casing, ribbon ends threaded through openings at the seam and tied in a bow).
The instructions for how to attach the tie band were rather confusing, and I ended up not following them since I was using a ribbon instead of fabric, and I simply sewed it on at the end. I think it would have looked nicer if I had followed the instructions and caught the upper edge in the seam. |
