Pattern Description:
Men's pirate costumes, unlicensed but based on Pirates of the Caribbean Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The coat is fabulous. Easy to construct, which is good for a Halloween costume. I didn't make the shirt, as I already have that type of shirt made up for a previous costume. The pants ... definitely a no go. I don't know if I cut the wrong size, or what, but when my husband tried them on ... no way was he wearing those outside the house! the front flap was, errr, very immodest, if you get my meaning. Fabric Used:
Corduroys ON SALE from Joann's! Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
At husband's request, I eliminated most of the trim except buttons. He's not big into embellishments. To mine, I added lace at the cuffs. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No, because I don't need more than two pirate coats, and yes, because it was exactly what we wanted. Conclusion:
I made a His-n-Hers out of this for a pirate-themed Halloween party we were invited to. Because it was a rush job (why do things ahead of time when you can wait until the last minute?) I was very glad the pattern was mostly simple. I was sewing buttons on in the car on the way to the party! (a good way to get carsickness, btw.) However, while I was initially put off by the lack of a collar, they did turn out to look exactly like what we wanted.
