Pattern Description:
Misses Lined Jacket and Coat in 3 lengths plus collar and sleeve variations.
Misses sizes 4-22

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but having made it now, I would have bagged the lining instead of sewing it the way the instructions tell you to.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I will never get tired of this pattern. I love all of the collar and sleeve variations. And the basic coat is just such a classic style. This coat is for my 21 year old daughter, and she chose the long length, which is pretty long on her 5 feet 3 inch frame. Here is the back view. She also chose the gathered collar which is really nice because you can raise it to completely cover your neck if it is really cold outside. Here is the collar down.

My only dislike is the small pockets. I would enlarge them by about 50% next time. I know that means that they'll go into the facing area, but I really think bigger pockets are better.

Fabric Used:
Cobalt Blue Wool Melton from Fabric.com, and Magenta Quilted Thinsulate Lining. My daughter is very cold blooded and wanted me to make this warm enough for her to walk a mile in the wind and snow to class without getting cold. I don't know if we've accomplished that or not, but we're close! Here is a shot of the lining.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a 1" FBA. She chose to use a mixture of gold buttons from my button stash which makes it very unique!

Conclusion:
This is a great coat pattern! Goes together easily and fits well. More info on my brand new Blog.

EleanorSews 11/6/09Lovdely coat! That blue is just the ticket to brighten the day when February hits. The choice of a long coat makes sense especially if she lives in Chicago. Long is mandatory for me for a Midwest winter and more so with Chicago's winds.

Annette1 11/7/09I LOVE this coat, and ESPECIALLY that collar. THe lining is SO nice, and it will be WARM, too. I'll bet you anything, she'll be wearing this ALL WINTER. :O) I remember I used to wear my Dad's OLD Eddie Bauer down jacket (turned up at the hem and tacked underneath) between classes.
