Pattern Description: Loose fitting dress below mid-knee length, with neck ruffle, elaticized necline and waist, sleveless with mock wrap front. This dress kind of has a mexican/peasant feel to it!
Pattern Sizing: I slightly altered the pattern to make the top a size 16 and the waist a size 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep, exactly the same (apart from the skinny model on the front!)
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy to follow and there weren't too may steps either.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the ruffles, its' simplicity and the elasticized waist. I do waist training and wear a corset for 23 hours a day so it's really handy to do have a dress that isn't too fitted so that I can wear it without the corset, or more cynched in the waist if I wear it with a belt. I also love the Mexican feel that the dress has.
Fabric Used: Lurid pink leopard print chiffon-the simple cut of the dress lets the fabric do the talking! I also used some cheap poly-cotton as a lining, as the top fabric was quite transparent. It also helped to stabilize the slippery chiffon, which often drives me crazy!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: As I said before, I altered the dress so that the bust was a size 16 and the waist was a size 12 and I added a lining for modesty's sake.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definately sew again and reccommend this pattern. I'm a pretty confident sewer so I found this to be really easy. I'm definatley going to sew this again, only next time I will use a more opaque fabric so that I can avoid the time it takes to add a lining! I am thinking that I will also make a top using the bodice pattern pieces.
Conclusion: I'm thrilled with this dress, It will be on high rotation in my summer wardobe. I'll probably end up making a whole bunch and living in them all season!
