Jodie from Ric-Rac left a comment on my blog re: my softies being narrower - it's because I used synthetic felt which doesn't stretch when you stuff it!! Jodie used a felted woolen sweater for the body of her stuffies which did stretch! Now to look for some op-shop jumpers I can felt and cut up :)
