Pattern Description:
High waisted, below mid-knee or mid-calf, semi-fitted skirts have back zipper closure. A: purchased belt. B: wrong side will show. C: front band has button closing.
Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 4-18. This review covers a size 4. I chose the lowest size based on the final measurements. I wanted a tight fit, and the size 4 was the closest to my measurements.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Except for the lack of belt carriers, yes, it does. It fits pretty much the same way, too.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very clear and well-illustrated, especially the zipper. I didn't actually use these instructions, but they were well-explained.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the high waist! This is one of the few patterns I found with a waist like that, and this was my favorite. It's definitely a winner. It has plenty of variations, and it's easy enough to combine them in different ways. It's a very fast project; if you have enough time, it can be done in a day. Or, if you're like me, you can have it done in three days, because you hate pinning and cutting
Fabric Used:
After much struggle with the high price, I chose to use the Sew Classic Wool Suiting shown here, in the color "Coffee." From what I can tell, it's a twill weave, but it's hard to look close enough to determine.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No alterations It fits me like a glove! I did decide to leave off the belt carriers, since I wanted to be able to wear it without a belt, but that's it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I don't think I need TWO high-waisted skirts, but if the need arose, yes, I'd make it again. I definitely recommend this! It's a great style, especially if you have a slim waist to show off, and it's pretty comfortable, too.
Conclusion:
A very lovely skirt, lots of variations, and definitely a must-have It's great for lots of occasions: work, school, parties, etc.
