I'm sorry this was so frustrating for you. I hate when a pattern doesn't work out the way I imagined it before sewing it up. I now it isn't much comfort, but if you consider this as a muslin, now you know about the sizing and where it is too big--you could adjust the pattern tissue and make it much more easily.
