Thanks for explaining your alteration and the reasoning because I've got a similar situation with my hips:waist. Your skirt looks perfectly fitted, very nice on you and to top it off it is a practical garment that can get a lot of use.

I agree that darts usually make for a better fit. Very smart looking skirt!
