I've been eyeing this pattern for a summer dress too. I'm so glad to read your expereince with the tube thing--I'll have to try it out. Thanks for the review!

This pattern is in my wishlist and I'm going to buy it next time there's a sale, so I'm very pleased to see such a favourable review. It sounds great - just what you want from a pattern!

What a cute dress, wish I had the figure to wear bias!

Thanks for such a helpful review. This is one Kwik Sew pattern I don't have and now I'm going to get it! Hope we can see a picture of you in the dress soon.

Your dress sounds lovely, thanks for the review. I have an old(er) McCall's pattern very similar to this one and am debating whether I should get the Kwik Sew or just use the one I have. Such a dilemma!

I'll try to get organized and post a photo--I haven't done that before so it will be a new experience!

I've been looking at this pattern for some time and was wondering if it would be flattering on me. Does it cling around the hips and thighs? Some bias dresses I have tried on in RTW look just awful they way they hug my hips and upper thighs. I'd love to see a photo.

Catherine, bias cut anything will tend to cling more than things cut on the straight grain. This dress flares somewhat from the waist so there's a reasonable amount of ease through the hips. The fabric I used was slightly heavier than your basic rayon, and that makes a difference, too. I have this dress almost assembled in handkerchief linen; when I finish it, I'll report back--and try to get a picture! I'm more likely to get a picture of it on a dress form than on my body, but I'm not sure that will tell you what you want to know.

I am attempting to do a really quick version of this dress for DD, who wants something new and festive and Spring-appropriate to wear under a cap and gown. How nice to find this recent review here. Hope that I - and DD - enjoy the same good results that you did.
