Barbara, You have worked very hard for your jeans. You should be proud of yourself. The next pair will be much easier. I have done the tissue fitting with a different pattern for my daughter and it was hard work. I have forgotten what Pat No as it is at her place. She is now supposed to make her own [I hope] It is really good when those around you comment on your efforts.

Barbara, I used a P/P jeans pattern many years ago and had the same good result you did. And yes, I think planning to re-use the pattern is pretty good evidence of how good the pattern is. Thanks for the review.

What is a PFFRP pants fitting book, and where can I find one?

You spent a lot of time on the fit of your jeans--glad you're pleased with them and can't wait to see a photo. Syd, I'm pretty sure PFFRP means Pants Fitting For Real People.

Ys, PFRP is Pants for Real People, and there is also Fit for Real People both by Pati Palmer and Marta Alto, and they are fantastic fitting books, stacks of info. and lots of photos, in Australia I ordered them from Spotlight but elsewhere in the world others may be able to suggest shops or mail order for you Syd

Look forward to seeing the photo. It sounds like you did a great job and the book and pattern are good choices. Thanks for the review.

I've had this pattern forever and have always been afraid to make it. I can't wait to see a picture of them!

I have this pattern and need some jeans! Not sure I am ready to tackle it yet- but it is good to know that you (and others) have had such good results with this pattern! Your Jeans look wonderful!

Barbara - what a great job you did on the jeans! If I were to make a stab ad the adjustment for you, I would increase the high-hip (1-2 inches below the waist) and decrease the front crotch depth. The back depth looks fine. Detailed instructions for making these adjustments can be found in Sandra Betzina's 'Fast Fit' book, and I am sure in other fitting books as well. GREAT JOB!!

I have the very same fitt problems as you do, except I have to start at a size 20 for my hips, then increase for my thick waist. I admire the work you put into fitting these jeans, as I haven't been able to get an acceptable pair yet. I haven't given up though. You have inspired me to try again. I will be using a Burda Plus Magazine pattern that gives some elastic in the sides to accommodate my waist and high hips. Thanks for your review and your jeans look great!

Thanks, it is really good to hear positive comments. About the fitting Stef. the 1-2" you suggest I add at waistline do you mean? Thanks for ideas. Sherril I have noticed you have the same sort of problems, and always watch for your reviews.

Barbara J - the alteration can be made at the hip seam or by slash and slide method. If the waist fits fine, then don't add too much because you will need to ease the additional fabric onto your waistband. You can easily ease in 1-2 inches, but beyond that, it would difficult. If the waist is also a little tight, you can add more and ease part of the adjustment and accommodate the rest of the adjustment by increasing the size of your waistband. If you want to experiment, it is easier to 'remove' the adjustment if you made it at the side seam, but I think it is more effective if you do the slash and slide method to add to the center of the pattern piece. Good luck!

Stefstuff I understand will try to improve from here thanks for advice. I have actually been able to let out w/b by 4cm, because after I wore the jeans I found they slid down slightly so I just took in the side waistband, then when I washed them had them photographed realized they felt too tight and let them out again, looks better but feel the high hip is still too tight, bet can only improve fit from here on, although I have a bad habit of going on with another pattern but will def. make these again.

Barbara, You did a great job on your jeans. I have this pattern and the PFFRP book. I am trying to pin the pattern together for a tissue fit. Not exactly sure which front pieces I need besides the Jeans view C pant front. The pattern and book do not say, and I can't tell from the photos. Looks like the fly and some pocket pieces, but which ones?

Shelley, if you look at the instruction pages well, page 1 of 8, bottom left, tells you the pattern pieces for each view. For fitting the paper to myself I joined, I think, tge front with 12, 13, and 14, then attached it to the back piece . I wear a top over the jeans not tucked in, but think they look better in reality than in the photo. Good luck!
