Playa said... Love the hummingbird view and both dresses are beautiful! The gatherings of the skirt are very attractive. I'm making the same dress with the gathered skirt but with the other bodice and with double straps for my daughter's prom. First, I'm wondering if you had to lengthen or shorten? and if so how it affected your yardage. I had to calculate the yardage myself for this view, and purchased three yds of 54" wide silk dupioni. It was pricy and I didn't want to purchase more than needed and hope that 3 yds is enough. The pattern says that the hem line falls 4" above the knee. Next I'll be preparing the pattern for fitting, and my daughter will decide how long the hem will be. You hem line looks great right where it is on your legs. 4/6/10 11:58 AM

the seam allowance I used was 1,5centimetres. I did not lenghten it shorten it. I would love to help you with how much fabric you need but I don't know the American inches, only centimetres and metres.
