Karla Kizer said... "I don't know why I keep torturing myself with these difficult fabrics." Sandra, the top looks great and the fabric is beautiful. Sorry it was so difficult to work with, but it appears you were able to beat it into submission. I'm curious about your fabric sources; how hard is it find a good fabric selection in Jamaica?

SandraB said... Thanks Ladies. Karla, we have some really good fabric stores here in Jamaica. The two big ones that I frequent are Pings and Pablo's. I am rarely disappointed when I browse these stores. Of course there are a miriad of smaller fabric stores all over the country, but these two are my favourites. I am also a member of fashionfabrics.com so I do a bit of online shopping. But nothing beats walking through a fabric store and feeling the textures and drape for yourself.
SewingSusan, I am not the one who has to redraft my armscye. You may be mixing me up with someone else. 4/15/04 7:52 PM

I was logging on to specifically look for reviews on this top, as I just bought the pattern and want to go ahead and make it up, so I was pleased to see this review, right at the top :o) The shirt is really pretty, I like the fabric you chose~turned out beautiful! Thanks! 4/15/04 10:44 PM

SouthernStitch said... Sandra- your blouse looks great. I think what Susan meant was that in previous reviews of this top, the other sewers mentioned a drafting problem with the armscye. I am curious too as to weather you experienced this same problem. If not and your pattern is new, it may have been corrected. Some KS patterns have 5/8" but not too many- I have a jacket and dress pattern that is. 4/16/04 12:09 PM
SandraB said... Ohhhhh!! Silly me. I misunderstood SewingSusan. The answer is no, I did not have to redraft the armscye. However, in a previous review, someone pointed out that on the sleeve pattern piece, the front and back are mixed up. I found this on my pattern too, so I relabeled the back and front and didn't have any problems. 4/16/04 9:28 PM

MindyHuffman said... I LOVE that fabric and what a beautiful blouse!! I just picked up this pattern because of all the good reviews. I'm just not following the armscye problem. Is it just that what's labeled as the front of the armscye should be the back and vice versa? 11/16/04 7:39 PM
SandraB said... That's exactly right Mindy. So you just have to relabel the front and back of the sleeve. Good luck. Looking forward to your review. 11/17/04 8:07 AM
MindyHuffman said... SandraB, I FINALLY GOT IT!! I was thinking the opening on the body of the shirt was marked wrong, which would be a much more complicated fix than relabeling the sleeve!! I've read about it here and on the message boards trying to get a grip on it, but somehow when I read your response, I GOT IT!! Thanks again!! I'm going to go shopping for fabric now... 11/17/04 3:22 PM
