The top looks fine - good save. You are right about the pattern being designed for more drapey fabric - I have sewn it many times and it works well with anything from jersey to stretch velvet.

This is a really nice, straightforward pattern that looks great on you. The fabric is perfect and, with your fix on the neckline, is perfect for cooler weather.

Your top looks good and warm for the cooler weather. I bought exactly the same fabric last year in Cabramatta and made a skirt!

I love your top - it's a great classic style and looks good in the fabric you chose. You did well to fix the collar problem.
