This is a very timely pattern review. With October as the busiest time for making costumes and the associated crowns, tiaras, hats, headdress and hair ornaments this pattern will be very useful right now!!! I noticed it also has a tiara sized pattern. It will also be easy to modify for decorative head bands and could be made into a hat with fabric added on top.

This pattern reminds me of the traditional Russian headdress called a kokoshnik, for which there is a stunning example of one being made at this site:

Yes, but later, the one I made is already out of town with my granddaughter never to be seen again until next visit!! I Plan on making a fabulous embellished one but it will be awhile till I can get to it :)
