I wonder if the pointy bit of the dart has a bit of extra thread causing it to protrude? This can happen if you backstitch, or knot the threads at the narrow end of the dart.

It sounds like you are far from being just a beginner. You could easily be Advaned Beginner or higher. Fantastic outfit! And the bias trimming on the inside is adorable. This will also help it hold up in the wash! Great job!
