Please do not forget that the pattern company, not the designer, does the grading and pattern production. I have used many Marcy Tilton patterns and do not find them to have poor sizing. I typically wear a Vogue 10-12 or a small.

It's not poor sizing. Most of Marcy's designs are oversized and not body conscious, and the finished pattern widths and lengths are generally shown either on the envelope or the pattern pieces themselves. Whenever I make a new garment of a style that I haven't worn before, I make a muslin just to be sure. It takes a little time, but it's way better than wasting my good fabric.
