Well, if you don't end up working out in them, you can always LOUNGE in them. :o) I think the crotch on my PJ bottoms hangs halfway to my knees -- ha!

Sorry the fit didn't work out. I have a similar fit/proportion issue with the front... usually I find that the front crotch has to be shorter, and the front inseam eased onto the back inseam or else an odd-looking curve made in the back piece. Some patterns do have the front crotch shorter already. Anyway, hope you have fun at the gym, and with whatever you decide to sew next! :)

Ya, Rhoda K, I wanted to highlight how the pattern was drafted; the "outside" photo is the finished pair of capris--not much there :(
