Edited for the Menswear contest August 2013 Pattern Description: unisex pyjama pants
One of my favourite patterns. Pattern Sizing:adult XS to XL
For this contest I used flannelette to make a size XL with both elastic and a drawstring at the waist. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?Having only one leg seam rather than two makes construction quick and easy. I don't care for the buttonholes at the waist for the drawstring, and usually replace them with a small opening in the centre front seam. Sometimes I eliminate the drawstring altogether.
Fabric Used: Cotton flannelette
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I omitted the buttonholes for the drawstring and instead just used an opening in the outside centre front seam ( as opposed to an opening on the inside of the waistline casing, which the pattern specifies for inserting elastic).
There was not quite enough fabric for the XL size, so I added dark blue flannelette to the bottom of each leg. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I've made this pattern several times and have recommended it to beginners. Conclusion: This pattern is quick and easy to sew, and the finished garment is comfortable to wear.
