I think you should make a tube top in the same fabric to wear under it. That would be easier than changing the sides. Or you could make a co-ordinating one also. Thanks for reminding me of this dress. I'll have the same problem on the sides as you do. How appropriate that it is bamboo fabric, and for Chinese New Year!
