A bit hard to see in the thumbnail but it sounds like an interesting process. You can try a burn test to determine the fiber content - many sewing books describe them.

What an adventure! I have to admit that I was looking at this pattern just yesterday. I am proud to say that I rejected it because I was pretty sure that it would wear me rather than the reverse. I loved your story about the fabric. I can say that I have fallen for fabrics that looked wonderful before washing and like complete dogs afterward. It is still worth the risk, you never know. Thank you for the fun review.
