said... That's ok Peggy, I posted the pattern picture in your review. Regarding the bag, I really like view which has a little knot on top. I've only made a handbag once before and it was as time consuming as making a garment, so I kinda gave it up, but yes I love handbags and if I could get myself to make some, it would be so cool, plus they would make such great gfits! one of these days, we will have to find a better, quick and easy pattern (if such a thing exists that is). 7/4/02 10:29 AM
said... Thanks! Janet really liked that one, too, but we didn't have enough fabric (we were making it to match some pants). You would not have trouble with this pattern. My main gripe is the "Sewing for Dummies" label. Beginners don't need to start with something like this. After trying to get my daughters interested in sewing for years (very unsuccessfully!) I don't want them to get discouraged by a pattern. A pair of one seams would be a better project. 7/4/02 10:55 AM
said... Peggy, your daughters might like some of the Kwik Sew "Learn-to-Sew" patterns. They really are beginner friendly-and the styles are nice too. They are in their own section of the www.kwiksew.com catalog. (I have reviewed a dress and jacket from this series.) 7/4/02 12:28 PM

Janet wanted pillows and homedec stuff for her "1st" apartment so we did that and the purse together. Her father was so shocked he took a picture of her at the machine! My Mom never sewed but I loved it from my first class. I'm much more impressed with the "Learn to Sew" type of system where you build on your skills. 7/4/02 9:10 PM
said... I'm just about to start the pattern...I was just reading it through before I started and it does seem a little advanced, especially for beginners...I've been sewing for about 3 years and even I'm a little timid :) 8/14/02 11:44 PM
