Diane E said... Wow, thanks for the very specific review. I love Jalie patterns, too, and was checking out this pattern. I agree that the getting fabric with the right amount of stretch is very important. Thanks for the tip about sizing up. I'm not too keen on tight pants for me ;) 8/1/04 11:08 AM

I will size up next time. I'm printing out your rewrite of the waistband directions -I was going to lose my mind. But in the end they look great (and yours too!) 8/1/04 6:28 PM

drsue said... Your pants came out great. I'm driven nuts by Jalie's directions. I've decided I won't make them unless I can't get a similar design from any other company. When you contact them maybe you should point out there are more English speakers in the world than French speakers ( I realize that's a sore point in French Canada and in France itself.) 8/1/04 7:48 PM
elly said... Not having made serious efforts to read the instructions in French, I wonder if they are just as perfunctory in that language as well. It may well be that they just don't put a lot of work into their technical writing. 8/1/04 9:02 PM

EveS said... Thanks, Connie! Great review as always. One note on the waistband. I scrounged around my wardrobe looking at other drawstring pants and found all sorts of methods for doing them. Ironically, my North Face windproof pants? The stupidly expensive ones? They do the waistband EXACTLY how Jalie tells you to. They use a coordinating mesh as the casing on the inside (but RIGHT side of the fabric...so against the body), snip a simple hole for the drawstring exit, and that's it. One thing I like...the drawstring is on the inside, so you don't look like you have a belly button outie because of the ties. I think I might try it this way just for curiousity. If the sewing gods are with me, my review will be up in time for the activewear contest. Just thought I'd let you know about my discovery! :) 2/2/11 11:24 AM
