Thank you for reviewing this pattern. I bought this over a year ago and have not had the time to make it up.

ooh, thanks for this review! i've been wanting to sew bike jerseys for a while, so go you -- i'm way too intimidated to try. is sewing with lycra hard to do? do you need to use a lighter needle and thread?

Thanks for some great information on this pattern!

I lightened the pressure on the presser foot, used a 70/10 ball point needle and polyester thread with a 2.5mm straight seam. It worked fine. I finished the seams by overlocking them with woolly nylon in both the lower loopers.

Can you tell me how much ease this pattern has? I tried to measure the pieces roughly, and it appears that the finished measurements are just very slightly larger than the body measurements ... My husband has a very broad chest and massive biceps (he lifts weights), and his waiste and hips are 2 - 3 sizes smaller than his chest. He dislikes closely-fitting garments, and would like at least 4 - 5 inches of ease in his bike jerseys. Thanks!

How are women's cycling shorts cut differently? And if so, why don't the two companies that have cycling shorts (that I've found) have women's versions? Arrrgggggghhhhhh! I had heard that cycling shorts were expensive, for some reason I thought $75-80 was the range, which IMHO, is plenty expensive! But I went to price them at the bike shop in the same shopping strip where my gym is (I spin) and they were $80 - 150! So, I've been trying to find a pattern ever since!
