Hi. I read your review on this pattern and did look at it myself since I had just purchased it. The side seams do match when you place the correct markings together. In a top like this the pattern piece for the back is generally longer than the front from below the armhole. I know that this is done to keep the back from falling backward when wearing the top. If you look at the pattern again, the allowance above the armhole marking for the opening allows for the pattern to go over the shoulder a bit. I have made these types of tops in the past and this does work quite nicely. Try it!
