Thank you for the lovely comments. Yes, sort of made the hat as well. I purchased the buckram frame and covered it in the same wool as the collar and added the feather and flower. It was made for the sesquicential parade in Philadelphia, but is normally going to be used for sidesaddle demonstrations and anywhere else we are requested to make an appearance. here is a link to an album for this habit

This is really lovely. Looks as though a lot of painstaking effort went into its construction. A labor of love for a horsewoman? You look great riding side-saddle in it. I admire your riding style as much as your sewing project. Good luck with future riding habits and events. I look forward to more reviews too.
