This does look like a great, free pattern. Your changes with the bias tape make a lot more sense than the facing. Nice job!

I've been wanting to make this top, and I love how yours turned out! I love the fabric! I love the color & it's nice with a little gold. :) I think I will try mine with a bias tape as well. I didn't really like the facing idea either.
