This Purse has a wonderful flap that just cries out for embellishment.

The original design of this purse pattern has a narrow "neck" which prevents easy access to all those important purse items.

To enlarge the neck, the sides were cut straight vertically, as a tote bag. The heavy interfacing was cut along the original pattern lines. This kept the shape of the original pattern, but allowed the opening to be much larger.

However, as a result of this revision, the single strap would not work. So two straps were used and placed on either side of the flap. D-rings and clips allow the straps to be easily replaced, if necessary.

The lining of the purse only had one small pocket. I added others to improve organization.

I love the face on it, did you make the face with a mold? Also, is the beading around the face, what is holding it on there, as in just tighter and tighter circles drawn around it?

Thanks! The face is made with polymer clay and a face mold. I add an extra "lip" around the outer edge and drill small holes in it to sew it to the backing fabric. It is also glued. The beads are placed over the lip and then sewn to the backing fabric, too. It is quite secure!

Thanks. It is fun to be able to embellish something small like this.
