I cut a 10 (I typically cut an 8 or 10 for a dress or blouse, depending on the pattern), and I had to remove so much from the bust (I have a modest B cup)! From the apex of the bust to the waist wasn't so bad, but I took out a large chunk from the apex of the bust to the armscythe.
Looking at your neckline and re-reading the instructions, they really should have advised more clipping! I personally prefer to use pinking shears to trim and debulk sharp curves like that.
I have to disagree on your opinion of the zipper placement, though. A side zipper is more difficult to fit and match up than a back zipper, but it is so much more convenient to get in and out of! The back pieces are also on the fold, so you'll have to add seam allowances if you really really want that back zipper.
The print and shape of the dress looks good on you. I wish you better luck on your next project! 9/27/11 10:30 AM
