Clareew - thanks for the comment - yes the backpack does have outside pockets - you stitch down the compartments to the main (green) fabric - in my case the printed fabric on the outside is the pocket.

Great review, very detailed. I love the look of the bag but am a little confused- does it have outside pockets between the green and the printed bits? The book sounds great, I must investigate.
