That fabric has some very realistic tomatoes. Yummy! Very farmer's market ready, indeed, and what a fun, fun skirt!

You can do notches however you like! I make tiny little snips into the fabric. Don't have to worry about the notch fraying off and it is just...easier. If I've used the pattern several times and the tissue is getting a little oversnipped, I just stick a piece of clear tape over that part of the pattern for reinforcement. Notches are purely personal preference.
