said... Diane, the pants are beautiful and your review is wonderful in every way. I didn't see any evidence of any "clown butt" in your photo, but I do thank you for the belly laugh you gave me when I read your characterization of it! :) 7/12/02 2:03 AM

said... Diane, thanks for this very helpful review. When I click on the pattern photo I notice the model has a fair amt of ease in the front (clown front?)and the back is not photoed which may be suspect. As a fellow flat fanny friend I'm glad to learn of the fix. 7/12/02 9:35 AM
said... Diane, lovely pants! now I am considering buying this pattern as well but I do have a few questions: in your photo it seems there are hardly any gathers in the waist and I love that look. Is that true? also what fabric did you use? Do I need a stretch fabric or a regular woven will work? 7/12/02 11:58 AM
said... Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. Mudcat, the fruits sure do look like avocados in the picture, but they are actually melons and papayas, and of course I positioned some of those fruits not-so-strategically across my posterior. Hahaha on me! Rennie, I think the pattern photo shows more ease because the model has those lovely skinny thighs. Mine fill in my pants a bit more And Deepika, my fabric is rayon, without any stretch and it works fine. For you it will be perfect. As for gathers at the waist, here's the deal: I used a size "small" which exactly corresponds to my 38" hip measurement. The pattern measures 37.5" at the waist, which means that there is the minimum possible ease for me to get my butt into the pants. I have a 27" waist, so there may be more gathers there than there would be for someone with a smaller hip to waist ratio. Make sense? 7/12/02 3:05 PM
said... Diane, I have 37 hip and 28 waist so I think small might work for me too. Thanks for the explanation of the pattern and the review! 7/12/02 4:31 PM

said... Michelle, I got this fabric at Poppy Fabrics in Oakland, California. They had the same print with a turquoise background and sky blue background. I just got it on Tuesday so there's plenty more where that came from!
Mudcat, you're right! I looked again. There are avocados, as well as papayas, melons, and grapefruits! 7/12/02 8:15 PM
said... Diane , I love the photo ! I think your pants look better on you than the ones on the pattern envelope . I always thought that photo made the model and the pants look really frumpy ! 7/12/02 11:10 PM

said... Hi Kathleen, glad you like the fabric. Thanks for helping me select it! And yes, the 3/4"" is the total amount folded out. As I understand it, that's the max to take out before you run into trouble trying to ease the back to the front inner leg. 7/14/02 1:00 PM
