The fabric is kid's fabric from JoAnn- it looks like it has stars on it, but they're jacks- those little metal pronged things kids used to play with on the ground? I loved the fabric and had to make something from it.

I like your version of this, good to see how the hood sits. I agree about needing a lining, and like you I prefer a button fastening, I just can't get away from feeling that snaps suggest you can't be bothered to do nice buttonholes. But, having worn my jacket quite a bit I'm used to no pockets now, and I can't really see where they would go because of the short length and the little dart tucks???
