Thank you for your review, and links to the full account. I admire your dedication and ability to fit in the sewing time!!!!! Such a shame there are issues with the proportions of the jacket after all that work, lovely inventiveness with the linings etc. I agree the skirt is a happier outcome, but the jacket is surely not beyond redemption. Shortening the sleeves might make a big difference, and result in the drape and the length of the points looking more intentional. It's a bit hard to express this, because I can see the idea behind this design, and totally see why you were inspired to make it, but sometimes in reality when a design plays with altering a conventional style what works is to have fewer elements that are a departure from the 'norm' - my instinct is that here the exagerated sleeve length has a tendency to make the jacket look 'wrong'. Hope I'm being helpful in my comment.

I also was attracted to this look. I think it may be a proportion thing. Scrunch up the sleeves and see if you like it better. The stylists are always telling us it is slimming. Sometimes a garment, while well constructed just doesn't look the same as the one we have in our head at the time.
