Pattern Description:
This pattern is an electronic reader holder. It has a pocket for the reader (including a notch to plug it in to charge), and two different closure options. It requires 3 fat quarters, and some interfacing...
Pattern Sizing:
It is sized to fit a Kindle, however, there are instructions available to size for a Nook.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Pretty much exactly!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very confusing. There were two different steps where I had my husband come help me interpret ("Honey- I need you to do some spacial reasoning..."), and at least two others that I guessed what they meant. It is a pretty intuitive design, so it wasn't that big of a problem.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It is just adorable! It took about 2 hours to make, so an easy gift to make.
My only dislike is it cost $9... that kind of seems like a lot to me, but I understand designers have to make a living!
Fabric Used:
Three cotton fat quarters that I got from Connecting Threads.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did not put in the reader light pocket, on request of my husband.
I did not have the heavy fusible Pel-tex called for, so I used some other heavy weight stuff and just used spray adhesive to "fuse" it to the fabric.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely! In fact, I plan to make one next weekend for my mother.
Next time, I hope to find a smaller D ring though.
Conclusion:
Although the instructions were a little tricky to follow, Atkinson Designs put together a really nice Kindle Cover pattern. I love the way the binding looks with the other fabrics, and it seems sturdy enough to protect from bumps, dust, and minor spills.
