Pattern Description: MISSES' JACKET, SKIRT AND BLOUSE: Jacket is fitted, cropped, lined, long raglan sleeves and standup collar. Skirt is straight-fitting, lined and 1" below normal waist with waistline facing, back darts, back slit and invisible zipper. Length is 2" above mid-knee. Blouse is semi-fitted, sleeveless, front and back gathers, back neckline slit, gathered standup collar and ties.
I made the skirt.
Pattern Sizing: 6-12 14-20 I cut out a 10 and made an 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? pretty much
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes, but I've had easier
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I bought this pattern because I love the blouse which I haven't made yet. What I liked about the skirt was that it fits just below the natural waistline which I find very comfortable. The skirt photograph and drawing have a beautiful shape, but I found it to be rather straight and shapeless.
I did however like the design of the facing sewn to the lining.
I did not like the instructions for making the bias tape which was to sew the ends of a bias strip together and cut with scissors. I prefer to make it on my own with a see-through craft/quilting ruler and rotary blade.
Fabric Used: silk dupioni which I underlined with cotton batiste
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I tweaked the area from the hips to the waist until it fit.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. It's an easy pattern and comfortable skirt.
Conclusion: I make a lot of skirts and this pattern was similar to many other patterns. I really look forward to making the top later!
