This top was made from the leftovers of Simplicity: 2181, which I wasn't overly thrilled with..... reviewed here
This one turned out exactly how I wanted it!
Pattern Description:
Misses tops & skirt.
Pattern Sizing:
8 to 18. I made my usual 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I've made this top so many times I don't even look at the instructions..... a very simple top to sew with great results.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is my favourite pattern for a cowl neck top.
When you have 80cm of knit fabric left over & you wonder what to make with it, then this is the top for you.
It is very flattering to wear & super easy to make.
What's not to like about a pattern like this?!
Fabric Used:
a poly knit of some description.... Its very soft & light, with a slight sparkle thru it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
the facing on this cowl pattern is very minimal, only about 3cm wide, which means you can see the wrong side of the fabric in the cowl...
so I extended the facing so that it was approx 15cm long at the CF & just curved up it to where it finishes at the armhole (this is the only cowl pattern I have ever seen with such a minimal facing)
Have included a photo of the inside that shows the extended facing & how I've caught this under the armhole hem (see photo link below)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Have lost count of how many I've made already, and I'm sure I'll make plenty more....
Would most definitely recommend this pattern, its a winner.
Conclusion:
A gorgeous cowl top pattern, which also looks nice with the hip ties.
This pattern uses only 80cm of fabric, so is great for using up leftovers too!
I made this top in 30 minutes, thats how easy this pattern is.... its ony of my all time favourite patterns.....

I made another one of these tops last year, reviewed here.
