| Pattern Description:
Wrap dress pattern for stretchy knits. Has three different sleeve versions.
Pattern Sizing:
XS-XL. I was in the middle of a XS and S so I traced the pattern in between those sizes.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes very much so, apart from the minor changes that I did. It should be noted that the pattern illustrations imply that this dress is slightly loose fitting, but the actual pattern is snug, with negative ease, and should only be made in really stretchy fabrics.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Not all that. One reason were that they were in Danish (I am Swedish, but there is also an English version available). But my main issue is that there was just one measly line drawing, the rest was like Burdastyle magazine instructions, just text. For a pattern in this price range I had expected more detail I will say.
Two things worth noting. The tie is sewn into the neckline binding. This is a very nifty way, but if you want the tie wider, it means you either have to widen the binding or do like me and "ruche" the tie with a gather stitch so that it fits the narrow binding.
Secondly: You have to add the fold allowance on the skirt part, and if you make that fold as slanted as the neckline there will be a gap on the backside. I recommend slanting the facing upwards at the end so that it mirrors the neckline shape, just like you would do with any facing.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like he fit and look, I really feel that this pattern is very close to a Diane von Fürstenberg wrap dress, at it has no darts and no waist seem. just like hers. Also it's quite easy to make
Fabric Used:
A stretch rayon/lycra knit with border print. Since the print was on the lenghtwise I had to flip the pattern pieces. Knits usually have less stretch on the lengthwise, but since the fabric was so stretchy to begin with it worked.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added a collar to make it more like a classic DvF wrap dress. I also added wider cuffs on the sleeves and made the tie wider. Also I did my usual petite alteration, shortening the bodice and hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I can strongly recommend this pattern if you want to make a wrap dress that is very similar to the original. Plus thanks to the binding there is no fiddlin g with clumsy facings that wants to pop out. And the stretch of the binding helps prevent gapsosis.
Conclusion:
Great pattern that is fairly easy to make and very flattering. This was my first Onion pattern, it is quite popular here in Sweden, and I can see why, the styles are very nice classics that are fairly easy to make.

I loved this so much I ordered the pattern! Did you do any alterations on the pattern for your height? (I agree with Cynthia Sue, this pattern looks so much better than V8379).
