What a good idea to protect the table. Especially for everyday use.

I did this too! Only my table is rectangle (5 X 3) so I had to cut the excess off by the corners, seam them and round off and then like you, I zig zagged elastic around the edge. My oilcloth is gingham yellow and for all those wondering, oilcloth is a dream to wipe off. It's so smooth--I bet your Mom loves hers. Instead of to protect my tabletop, I actually made my oilcloth tablecloth to cover up an ugly scratched up butcher block table with white legs. Adding the oilcloth made my table look new again! Love yours and loved seeing that someone had the same idea!
